Born in Oslo to a Norwegian dad and Danish mum, my journey from Norway to Austria has been anything but linear. From being a tiny ballerina at 3 years old, I attended HSPVA (High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Houston TX) at 16 in 1983/84 as a dance major – where I had the opportunity to have master classes with Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey, American Ballet Theater and Nina Wiener. I later went to Danmarks Show og Teaterskole (1987/89) as a musical major; UiO (University of Oslo) where I got a degree in English Linguistics, Theatre Science and Literature; and Napier University where I obtained a degree in photography with focus on portraiture and architecture.
In parallel with my studies I appeared on national TV in Norway, trained at Pineapple Dance studios in London with Derek Hartley and at Henry LeTang's studio in NY. I also founded The Oslo Players at the UiO: a semi-professional Shakespeare performance troupe, and directed, choreographed and appeared in several revues and cabarets until leaving for Scotland.
Having had a break from the stage, my temporary return came at the IT (International Theatre) in Vienna in 2000 and 2001as Tiny Tim in A Christmas Carol. I then worked in the K&R industry based in London before becoming an office manager for a lighting design company. Quite a step away from the arts.
Though teaching English for Berlitz since 2006, I have since left the corporate language sector to run The Business Of English, and also to focus on my dream of returning to the performing arts through supporting the next generation of talent at the BSA.
