
Brook Hall
After finishing a degree in the Honors Program from St. Edward’s University, the U.S., Brook Hall worked as a performer, director, choreographer, and producer in film, theatre and television regionally around the U.S., New York, and Asia. Brook was brought to Vienna to be a teaching artist at Vienna’s English Theatre. For their academy, he directed NOISES OFF, THE FOREIGNER, MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, THE RAINMAKER, and ANIMAL FARM. On the VET mainstage, he directed NELL GWYNN and choreographed NEXT TO NORMAL (Broadway World Award Nomination), THE CHILDREN, and TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE. In 2012, Brook founded Butterfly Effect Theatre in Taipei, Taiwan. He has since transplanted it to Vienna as a Kulturverein where he serves as the Artistic Director and produced A GAME for Kultursommer Wien in 2023. Other stage directing and producing credits include the world Chinese-Language premiere of HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH, ANYTHING GOES (for the National Theatre of Taiwan), TAPE, A PERFECT GANESH, THE SANTALAND DIARIES, ALL IN THE TIMING, TUESDAYS WITH MORRIE, SMOKEY JOES CAFE, WAIT UNTIL DARK, GOD OF CARNAGE, SYLVIA, THE BOMB-ITTY OF ERRORS, and regional tours of TITLE OF SHOW and THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK. In film, Brook has directed, produced and choreographed for over 20 TV commercials and music videos and worked on the Hollywood features SILENCE (Martin Scorsese), LIFE OF PI (Ang Lee), and LUCY (Luc Besson). He was also First A.D. for the Hollywood indpendent feature STAND and was Second-Unit Director for the international feature THE SEACH FOR PANGU. He has worked as a guest artist around the world including: Beijing, Shanghai, KaohSiung, Taipei, ShenYang, Macau, Riga, Sevilla, and Pondicherri.
